After an extensive analysis and consultation process to investigate the feasibility of combining a number of needed recreation and cultural facilities,a vision and community consensus has been reached. The Battlefords community has recognized that it is of vital importance to invest in leisure and cultural services.

Sports, leisure and the arts are integral to the balanced lives of individuals, and they are also fundamental to the future of our communities. The Credit Union CU Plex will include a field house, an aquatics centre, a curling facility, a performing arts theatre and an outdoor common area.

It's difficult to overestimate the benefits of a new recreational and cultural centre to the Battlefords community.

Some of these benefits include:

• Development of a variety of positive and productive activities for youth
• Improved recreational facilities to help retain and attract citizens and businesses to the area
• Maximization of regional identity, spirit and culture, while connecting the various cultures of our region as a whole
• Provision of local jobs
• Increased health and well-being of regional citizens
• Positive impact on commercial and residential property values
• Creation of a focal point for community activity that distinctly represents the region's collective heritage and potential
